I love my new BrushCraft brush, and am curious if you will be making larger ones and the same sizes as the Artis Collections?

One of the key objectives for BrushCraft was to streamline everything possible. From design, to manufacturing, and even how many brushes to offer. We have always believed that a makeup brush should do multiple duties in terms of application, and the BrushCraft Brushes represent the essence of how many brushes a person would need to do just about every type of makeup application. Our BrushCraft Customers really like simplicity and want to have a handful of brushes that do it all, as opposed to having a trunk full of as many makeup brushes as possible. Neither approach is right or wrong...it is just a preference as to how you like to do things in your life. BrushCraft offers a small, but powerful assortment to please those who like life to be that way.

Is BrushCraft another Artis Collection or something else?

The BrushCraft Collection was created by Artis, and therefore is another Artis Collection. But, there are some key attributes about BrushCraft that make it special enough to have its own home/website. The design approach for BrushCraft uses a minimal, pure, and simple profile that blends together some familiar aspects of conventional brushes along with the innovation that defines the Artis Brush performance. This streamlining approach to the design has been echoed in the manufacturing techniques used to produce the BrushCraft Collection. State of the art material-fusing techniques were used to bond together the handle and fibre bundle components. And the sophisticated matte black finish is accomplished during manufacture rather than adding layers after the component was made. These revolutionary methods resulted in cost savings, which we have passed on to our Customers. The BrushCraft Collection represents the design "essence" of an Artis Brush. Something like the perfect "Little Black Dress" every woman has in her wardrobe. BrushCraft fits in everywhere, but never overshadows the Host. Can be dressed up or down, and still maintains true style.

How do BrushCraft brushes cost less than Artis Collections?

We are committed to offering makeup brush Users different options in terms of design, usage, feel, performance, and affordability. Some of our objectives with BrushCraft was to create a beautiful design with superior performance and with affordable pricing options. This meant The Artis Research and Development Team had to find innovative ways to manufacture/build in all the great attributes that define an Artis Brush, while controlling the costs of production as much as possible. We streamlined the design in a way that minimized or eliminated many of the steps normally required during manufacturing. What is the difference between NuFibre and CosmeFibre?

CosmeFibre was developed and is trademarked by Artis. Only Artis brushes use CosmeFibre, which delivers highly superior makeup application performance. NuFibre is a result of the Artis fibre engineering research and provides similar performance to the original CosmeFibre, but without some of the complex attributes we use to manufacture CosmeFibre. NuFibre is a streamlined version of CosmeFibre, just like the handle design of BrushCraft. NuFibre utilizes the essence of what we developed for CosmeFibre and results in a simplified version which still out performs any conventional animal hair brush available on the market. Both NuFibre and CosmeFibre should be cleaned and cared for in the same way, and both will offer extraordinary performance.

Which brush do I use for what makeup product?

BrushCraft Brushes are designed to be multipupose, so each brush can be used to apply and blend several types of makeup and cosmetic products.

The two main considerations when choosing which brush is the size of the area you want to apply product to, and the shape of the area you want to create.

Here is a chart to help get you started in ways to use the BrushCraft Brushes for your makeup applications:

How often, and what method should I use to clean my BrushCraft Brushes?

Professional Makeup Artists clean their brushes after every use. If you are the only user of your brushes, you may get away with cleaning them every few days or when it is necessary to switch from one colour to another or one product formula to another. You should at least cleanse and sanitize your cosmetic brushes once a week. Consider often do you cleanse your own hair, and reference that when deciding how frequently to clean your brushes.

BrushCraft brushes made with NuFibre can be safely cleaned using most major brands of makeup brush cleansers. We recommend you use a cleanser that also sanitizes.

If you only have household items available, use a dishwashing liquid like Dawn brand, and massage a very small amount into the wet fibre bundle until you feel it has dissolved all the makeup residue. Then hold the fibre bundle under warm running water until the water from the bundle runs completely clear and without any bubbles. Use a towel to absorb excess water from the bundle, and then set the brush aside to dry before using.

Some Users also like to finish a deep cleaning with a rinse of isopropyl alcohol, found in most drug stores, which helps to sanitize the fibres to make sure any microbes are inhibited.

The BrushCraft Brushes handles can be cleaned using a soft cloth soaked with alcohol, or a mild household cleaner.

How are BrushCraft Brushes different than a regular makeup brush?

BrushCraft brushes are different in several ways.

The handle and fibre bundle orientation are more natural and ergonomic than a conventional brush. Conventional brushes were created for painting and especially for applying paint to a surface like a canvas. They aren't easy to use when you have to turn it backwards towards your face and try to move it around on yourself.

BrushCraft Brushes use a man-made fibre that does not mimic animal hair at all. It is named NuFibre and is superior for makeup application.

BrushCraft Brushes use thousands of NuFibres in each brush, which assists in applying and blending makeup products effortlessly and beautifully.

BrushCraft Brushes don't contribute to allergies, because they aren't made with dead animal hair like most conventional brushes. It is estimated that 10% of the population is allergic to animal hair, and using a conventional animal hair makeup brush can cause some people to have very irritated skin.

BrushCraft brushes are made with modern, durable materials, that are hygienic and beautifully designed.

Are these brushes hypoallergenic?

Our fibres are statistically null in testing for allergic reactions, unlike traditional animal hair cosmetic brushes. In fact, some experts estimate that about 10% of the population are allergic to animal hair, which is one of the reasons we use NuFibre instead.

Do these brushes last longer than animal hair brushes - are they more durable?

The materials we use to make our brushes help the fibre bundles perform for years under normal conditions, and with proper care and maintenance. The NuFibre®  is more resistant to environmental challenges than are animal hairs, and with appropriate care and usage, should potentially last as long or longer than most animal hair brushes.

What do you recommend for a brush which fibers accidently got bent during storage?

After cleansing the brush, press dry it using the microfibre cloth or a towel, and then use your fingers to gently re-shape the fibre bundle to an approximation of the original shape, if needed. This shape will then be maintained during drying and the brush will be in good shape for application.

Should your brush accidentally get deformed from odd storage, you can generally revive the shape by dipping/swirling the fibres into hot water for a minute or so. Or pass the tips of the brush through the steam from a fabric/clothing steamer. The heat of the water or steam will cause the fibre memory to activate and the fibres will likely return to their original shape.

Let brush dry normally before reuse.
